What are the advantages of laser cutting?
When you’re thinking of getting a project done, you may have mixed feelings about the right way to do it. To help you make a more informed decision, we’ve listed a few advantages of laser cutting below:
First, lasers are accurate. If you have a design or project which will only work if you get the exact sizes in the design, you should definitely choose laser cutting. This is why one of the most common customers for laser cutting or engraving/marking services are companies in the medical or laboratory industries.
Second, lasers can cut delicate and detailed designs. Anyone with an art background will appreciate this aspect and use it to fulfill their potential ideas. Examples are wedding stationary, jewellery, etc.
Third, lasers usually result in clean edges and surfaces. If you’re cutting out a design from wood, there will be no need to sand the edges after the cutting is done.
Fourth, laser cutting is fast. Especially when you need high volumes of the same part. For example, companies offering store display solutions benefit a lot from having fixtures laser cut.
Fifth, laser cutting is cost effective. If you’re design is ready to be cut, you’re making a prototype or you need high volumes of work, lasers will be able to do the job at a good cost. In many cases, lasers perform the task of a number of other machines used in conventional techniques.
Sixth, a wide range of material can be cut with lasers. We’ll get into the most typical types used in a separate post later on.
Seventh, the area heated in the cutting process is quite small therefore there is no material deformation.
If any of these advantages are valuable in your project, consider using lasers to fulfill your idea. And if you need any help, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d be more than happy to let you know what we think.
